Fuck ICE

I think some kind of “pod” system would be nice where similar posts/crossposts could be visually grouped together like a “pod” of dolphins all surfacing on your feed together in a natural flowing way (randomly assigned color coding maybe?). Seeing one dolphin surface after another should feel like cohesive movement of a pod and any one post should link towards other dolphins in the pod not currently visible too.
You could then as a user “pod” a post by linking it with another post and the resulting feed of newly “podded” posts could itself be a browsable “pod feed”.
Obviously a different word than pod may be better, but I like the whale pod metaphor.

Meanwhile the planet is dying from all the increased emissions from data center usage.

Palantir is a scumbag company that profits on selling the machinery of oppression to authoritarian governments and entities.

For some reason it is not mindblowing to me that the Microsoft AI CEO is astronomically out of touch with normal people.
I think it is probably the behavior of Microsoft as a company that makes me feel that way.

Then unionize! Nothing else will stop this.

It has been glorious watching Microsoft do this, they deserve this dead end and much worse honestly.
I mean… I don’t know I guess it gives me hope how incompetent the people at the top of Microsoft truly seem to be?

I wonder if this is a “Star Trek is a conservative show” sort of thing. Like he’s genuinely not smart enough to actually understand what is right in front of him.
That is exactly what this is, conservatives pride themselves on having a toddler’s sense of media literacy, especially the men.
It is a reoccuring pattern enough that I have seen multiple video essays on the general topic that try to unpack the different reasons because it is so confounding from the perspective of being a normal well adjusted adult.
I think it is a part of the same core thing as conservative humor being embarassingly bad, formulaic, weirdly cruel to specific groups and just plain not funny almost as a rule.

Yeah the thing people keep underestimating when trying to make money off of social media is that the general public and young people aren’t guranteed to want to keep using it. Once things get shitty enough people will stop desiring to use it, ALL OF IT.
This is one of the reasons I am so passionate about the Fediverse, I genuinely believe in the positive potential of social media when it is done right and I am scared people will be taught to hate social media by corporations when it is really the corporations enshittifying social media that they hate.
Fake ass visions of the future of social media like Bluesky just end up making people more cynical and closeminded about digital communities and I am tired of the cycle.

Yes, this is the extra cherry on top that makes San Francisco look like a parody of itself here lol

I mean ok we can keep cats indoor, what about making techbros indoor only too though? They kill a lot of innocent people with the tools they make.

Not an excuse.

Then again, the human passengers didn’t see it either.
The human passengers weren’t responsible for driving the vehicle, their lack of awareness is a feature of getting a taxi ride?

This, at least, can likely be remedied fleet-wide and permanently with a software fix.
You have so much misplaced faith in these massive corporations…

What you aren’t taking into account how much the US social safety net has hollowed out since the dotcom crash.
This is going to be very bad, I wouldn’t waste words speculating about the extent of the damage, we haven’t seen this kind of shock hit such a fragile US society. There is no resilience left in the US people to climb out of a big economic crash, things will just shatter.
The dotcom crash was a process of a period of vibrant growth and opportunity smashing into a wall, this is different… this is much worse, it is like a runner already in terrible shape collapsing in the middle of a marathon from their body shutting down, AI is just the acute symptom of a much more worrying disease where the ruling class is attempting to hallucinate itself out of the consequences of their divestment from any functional social safety for the rest of the country.

I agree completely with this assessment.
gulp
Shameful and pathetic, what a material abandonment of the social contract.
