This is a great advertisment for what real developers do. You shouldn’t just crank out the first idea that works. You should be doing something that is smarter and sensible.

qarbone@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Elon Musk wants to rewrite "the entire corpus of human knowledge" with GrokEnglish1·20 days agoYou want to have a non-final product write the training for the next level of bot? Sure, makes sense if you’re stupid. Why did all these companies waste time stealing when they could just have one bot make data for the next bot to train on? Infinite data!
qarbone@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Signal – an ethical replacement for WhatsAppEnglish3·21 days agoHow is that weird? You can be fine with suboptimal stuff, and recognize it’s suboptimal. Some people like their relatives and wished they could talk together more readily. Letters were just the fastest (while economical) method of doing that for a while.

The rocks ain’t magic, dingus. The rocks are just a cipherstone to let us teach lightning how to count to 2 and do addition.
Rubes diminishing the achievements of hardworking artificiers.
No, we can harness this power. I can! I… I just need a little time to learn. A compassionate, yet firm, hand to wield the Vance. A scalpel to excise the rot… yes, I have the vision, the will. The fortitude to bear the weight of this responsibility upon my shoulders! If not me, then who? If not now, then when?! No mere Atlas am I, crushed beneath the world’s weight.
With the power of the Vance, I shall bear the world…forward.

qarbone@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•I can't pay rent because devs just don't careEnglish7·2 months agoI honestly think a big part of it is the hacky nature of the self-made dev. There’s an emphasis on getting it working instead of getting it right. Work fast, crash fast, and get it limping along faster.
qarbone@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•certificate_of_quality.pngEnglish8·3 months agoHell yeah, I made these errors myself. Homegrown.
I feel like it’s missing the setup of the dev complaining about why their architecture is a mess. Seems like a “management is ruining software” joke.
qarbone@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Looking for a Fediverse Alternative to Tumblr: Loforo vs Wafrn vs Goblin vs Others?English1·3 months agoI don’t understand why company names have turned to shit since like 2000. It’s now indistinguishable from facerolling a keyboard.
But…it’s canceled, not rescheduled for a different time that day. You just have free time. I don’t understand how that affects other timing.
Then give them some code and tell them to explain it. Having testees regurgitate algorithm implementations from memory is just testing rote memory.
I thought we had all lived through terrible public schools that just tested memory, and resolved to do better.
I just had someone send me a link to that when I asked a question. Infuriating.

Huh?
What about photos and video and audio?! Why are you asking?
Probably a little more up its own ass
