They’ve been doing big things with the Mac lineup in recent years. Macbooks, both Pro and Air, have gotten major design shakeups and improved processors. The Mini just got a new design and hardware as well. Oh yeah, and they’ve officially ended the 8gb minimum RAM so that’s a big boost to new purchasers.

Meanwhile the iPhone has hardly changed for numerous generations now. All they really do is shuffle the camera bumps around and add in AI that nobody asked for. I have an iPhone myself but it doesn’t exactly spark much joy for me. It is a very sterile, unenthusiastic device and I get that impression from every one of their recent models. They are stagnating badly, imo. My 14P still has 100% battery health and loads every single app practically instantly. Why the hell would I get a new device? Especially when they are like $1,000+

I’ve learned that whenever a major US organisation criticises China for something it’s almost always projection.

I struggle to think of something I’d rather do less than entrust Musk with my money.

Apple really needs to step up with bugfixes for iOS and MacOS instead of pushing rushed yearly upgrades.

You know, they’d probably get a tenfold increase of Premium subscribers if they just, I don’t know, dropped the prices a smidge and had better regional pricing. Not everyone can or will subscribe, but Google is only making this more difficult for themselves by making it such an expensive service.

DDG isn’t all that great anymore either because they get their results from Bing - which has also gone to shit. Any alternative search providers that gets their results from Google or Bing (which is most of them) are all nearly worthless now, IMHO. The ones that operate their own engines and crawlers, such as Kagi, are the ones that give results like we used to get before enshittification.

But then again, with the death of web forums and everything being consolidated into a small handful of sites, site:reddit.com is required for almost every search query I do these days. If I want to read something written by an actual human being then I need to look up via Reddit or else results are just 98% AI-generated SEO garbage. Like I wish I was making that up but the majority of search results now are actual throwaway trash; pages upon pages of completely nonsensical generated rubbish.
