I think this is a case of “Perfect is the enemy of good enough”.
Why would anybody spend $300 million on a movie nowadays? If this isn’t Avatar or Deadpool, it’s not going to make it back.
That’s a reductive take. Batman has always been on the side of the poor and common man, despite his wealth. One could point out the obvious “rich savoir” angle, but I think that far less problematic.
