  • It’s cause no one on Reddit goes past r/hot on their sorts. If it isn’t found by people in New and given an initial boost, it dies there. Plenty of stuff has died with 3 up votes while a repost that has a bot farm behind it hits r/all every other week. Reddit now is a feed people scroll with no interaction; bots with an agenda and a select few users interact with stuff.

I work intimately with disability services for a state run, federally funded org.

To say we are on fire right now is an understatement. We may be closing applications altogether, funding is down like…80% from last year. And we are one of the top performing agencies in the country. There are whispers of layoffs. All my Trump voting family keeps telling me “oh, it won’t be you guys, you do good work”.

The water is on the ship, and it’s up to our neck, and I’m being told that I’m safe from sinking because I’m responsible for mopping and keeping the floors dry, why would I sink?

  • It’s also very featureless. Basically videos, comments, likes. I’m on it, and I’ve opened it maybe 6x in 2 weeks? I also think it’s just an open feed; all the videos posted in chronological order (but I could be wrong here). Idk if this goes against the Fediverse creed to have an algorithm-fed feed, but I think part of the nature of these short form, endless-scrolling apps is finding vids about your interests from new places.
