Corporations might accidentally help if they try to make their own instancss, like if you sign up with google to join the fediverse, realize most instances block googles because its corporate, then they make an account at non corporate version.
I think the best way for it to grow would be making it easy to self host, yunohost maes it pretty easy, but more managed hosting options competing or more of the big ones offering it would go a long way.
Cosmos’s lemmy app is outdated and doesn’t work, yunohost is the only webclient type thing I’ve tried that has lemmy and works. Yunohost also has most other services like sharkey, pleroma, peertube, etc. and lets you easily install multiple services on one server with different domains. Only downside is it doesn’t have multiserver management like the rest, but the rest have no app support for fediverse stuff outside of mastodon.
If you don’t know how to do a lot of the docker stuff yourself, coolify, dokploy, runtipi, etc. aren’t really a possibility, they don’t work with ansibile, or the easy install without modifications (that idk how to do, I have yet to suceed)
My issue with a lot of these solutions is just being new and not knowing what im doing, like outside of hetzner im not sure how to specify a seperate volume, the way these services are worded Im nervous about losing all my data by not doing the file/mount stuff correctly.
caprover seems difficult to use, so do coollify and dokploy, might need to learn more about dockercompose, definitely doing some stuff wrong.
Currently checking out coolify, dokploy, runtipi, and cosmos. Cosmos is the only one I’ve found other than yunohost with lemmy in the appstore that lets you selfhost.
Does fediverse have good normie stuff? My friends use x mostly for discussing sports.
Bluesky really swooped in with their marketing, that shift shouldve gone to mastodon.
Reddit mods suck, reddit karma system sucks for new users so we have that over them (they can barely comment and cant post), reddit censors all the time at least once most ppl have been temp banned or had a comment/post removed that they thought wasn’t controversial. The algorithim is forcing controversy, cant avoid negative subreddits, your subscribed feed will show you stuff you arent subscribed to from communities that you downvote.
Reddit just has the ppl that have been there forever and are addicted to answering questions for dopamine hits. Whats annoying is reddit tends to have ppl that are at the intermediate level of each niche so the advice/info they give gets popular and parroted while it may not be the best.
Major issue with reddit is shills and bots, you cant trust reccs on their anymore, gotta look through profile history, might be slightly better here due to them not targetting us.
No one likes ads or people with money influencing what they can see, its all anyone is complaining about on social media especially with the tiktok ban, thats why pixelfed has an influx, every other post I see is “block facebook block musk fix your algorithim bs” they would prefer an owned by the ppl social media id they knew of it and if it was as functional.
I didn’t even know lemmy existed til a week before I got banned off reddit, thought voat was still around lol. Thats also because I specifically asked for alts on the alt subreddit.
I want to manage them like I would wordpress sites in enhance, monitor all the vps from different providers, migrate website/databaseto another server using a ui (for ease of useh if necessary, its fairly common to use something like runcloud, ploi, serveravatar, etc. outside of the fediverse stuff at least
I have vps from 4 different providers because of deals on lowendtalk, just wanted to monitor everything in one place at least
Ease of use, think dokploy was what I was looking for, want to monitor/manage with a panel or ui of somekind
Forsure, the terminologys a bit confusing, I thought it was for manaaging multiple servers , think dokploy was what im looking for, will check out lemmy-easy-deploy
they need less powerful and less hardware in general tho, they acted like they needed more
the only time their brain processes anything is when it effects them so hold up a mirror basically
Thats why when talking to conservatives you gotta target them, like if a pregant womans trying to make you agree with her on conservative points say hell yeah cant wait for them to get rid of all these pregnant woman that get paid for not working and just pop out babies to avoid work, if they’re old make sure you talk about how you hope they get rid of social security, etc. Fully commit especially when they try to act like it should be kept, call them libreral snowflakes.
It just sounds right, I keep correcting myself but forgot to that time
I see that piefed has topics which is like a collection of communities, kind of like custom communtiies in reddit but shared across the server. Is microblogging going to be added or are they sticking to the threadiverse?
the reddit way of buying awards and giving to comments alongside upvotes sucks imo, its just a fancier paid for upvote it should be shown like that, it doesnt mean anything more than a normal comment
Are there any fediverse games at all?
