The scientists didn’t actually read all 1,140,328 discussion-board submissions written by 16,791 students between the fall term of 2021 and the winter term of 2024.

"I think we can infer this is due to the availability of AI because what other things would produce these significant changes?”

Yu and his research colleagues didn’t interview any of the students and cannot say for certain that the students were using ChatGPT or any of its competitors, such as Claude or Gemini, to help them with their assignments

If this had been actual research this might be an interesting result, but it’s not. It’s pure speculation without a shred of verification.

How are C-level execs going to justify the bloated AI budget if they cannot point to a research study now? Actual research takes time they don’t have as the 1st quarter is almost over.

How will the researchers get more grant money to spend on inefficient transform models if they have to waste time and resources conducting peer reviewed study? I need my name on 10 papers this year or I’ll lose my faculty position.

Better yet, why not have AI draft a self report form and email it out to all of the students in my department and publish the results of that as research? I’m a genius.

Anybody else really starting to feel like a chump for not cheating their way through life?

Ive seen a staggering amount of students who relied entirely on AI fail out of the masters program I’m in. Cheating only gets you so far.

Nah, I’m quite happy without that weight on my conscience.
